Expert Response:

Growing up in rural Ohio in the early 90s, I had limited access to technological advancements and to the world of art. Fortunately, my parents were both high school teachers who loved taking us on trips to Chicago and Philadelphia, where we were exposed to collections of some of the greatest art in human history. My love for sharing art stems from these trips.

Throughout my studies of art history at ABC University, I understood the inevitable correlation between the art world and the world of digital innovations, and I saw the potential in new media to bring art to the masses. That’s how I went from being an art history major to becoming a new media entrepreneur who aspires to transform the business of digital art.

When I graduated from school with top honors, I was recruited by DigiNow, one of the leaders in the digital art space in New York. I launched their DigiNow app that enabled us to directly connect artists with patrons. I developed the business model, fine-tuned the payment schedules, and marketed the app resulting in a 30% increase in their sales, thus confirming to myself that my ideas had a solid practical benefit for everyone involved.I want to continue to take my knowledge of art, my strong entrepreneurial drive, and passion for direct-to-consumer business models, to start my own digital art company affiliated with the major entertainment networks. To do this, I need to make the right connections, gain a rich digital analytics skillset, and tap into the right networks, which is why I am pursuing an MBA.
