After completing the first-year required courses in the JD program, students can choose from over 500 courses in their second and third years. They will also be available to participate in Georgetown Law’s experiential learning through clinics, externships and practicums. The Georgetown Law curriculum for first-year students is split into two options: Curriculum A and Curriculum B. Curriculum A mirrors the first-year curriculum taught at most major law schools, whereas Curriculum B offers a more innovative approach to the study of law. Upperclassmen at Georgetown Law must also complete a written research thesis, complete a professional responsibility requirement during their classes, as well as complete at least 6 credits in the experiential learning classes, which can include in-class simulations or participation in active cases with legal clients.

Interview format
Georgetown Law offers invitational interviews to some applicants. These are either group interviews or alumni interviews. These are both held virtually, so its best to prepare for video interviews. Alumni interviews are usually meetings between applicants and Georgetown Law alumni so potential students can ask questions about courses, campus life and the student experience at Georgetown. Its also a way for admission committees to learn more about potential students and whether they will be a good fit. The group interview will be held with small groups of applicants so the admission committee can evaluate them. Applicants can apply through LSAC through either Early Decision or Regular Decision admission decisions. Visiting students are current full-time or part-time students at other ABA-accredited law programs, who are eligible to take 8 or more credits in courses at Georgetown Law not offered at their home law school. Admission decisions are made on a rolling admissions basis, so its best to apply as early as possible.
