Description:

This is a program for high school students interested in health careers. I shadowed doctors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists. Observing physicians interact with patients sparked a huge interest in medicine in me. We also received social and behavioral research training and conducted a research project on the correlation between caffeine consumption and sleep quality. Through surveys and literature review, we found an inverse correlation between the two factors. I saw a glimpse of how medical knowledge is developed to improve health. We were selected to present our findings at the Annual STEP conference. My experience in this program set the stage for my path to pursue medicine.
