Description:

Premed Association Public Health Committee is a student-run organization that addresses public health issues on campus such as smoking, safe sex, and healthy dining. As a committee member, I explored various dining options on campus to promote healthy eating. We conducted research and interviews with dietitians to gather information to present during our Health Fair. We invited yoga and taekwondo instructors to demonstrate exercise routines. I learned that people are often aware of what constitutes a poor diet; however, they do not know ways to look for healthy alternatives. As a future physician, I have to make sure to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and ways to attain it.
